When I first received Dough Dots I wasn’t sure how I, as a mother, was going to like it. I do not like the other dough type toys on the market. Mostly because I HATE the smell. Once we got these in the mail I popped one open to see. Thankfully, there isn’t much of a smell. It certainly isn’t as strong as Play-Doh, which I am super thankful for. Being pregnant and smells are not a good mix.
Once my daughter laid her eyes on the Dough Dots she was excited! “Are those my toys?” And from there she wouldn’t stop asking about them until I let her play with them.
First, we opened them up; easy enough for Khloe to do herself. Inside is a little lump of dough, sealed in a bag. You just cut that open and voila! You’re ready to play. No more struggling to get the dough out of a hard to use pesky container. The easy to use ball makes it easy to remove and play with and also to store!
We were so excited. I’ve not allowed her to play with dough toys yet so this was a first for her and she was loving it. She made me open every single container and she used every single animal cutter it came with. She got creative and built a “princess castle” with all the colors. After she was done, we didn’t have any problems separating them back out to store for later use.
The colors are super bright and fun, the dough is way more pliable than other doughs on the market. I didn’t see cracking or as much crumbling as I have with others. The colors even have fun names like: Hippo Purple, Lion Yellow, Monkey Blue and Panda Red!
Each color comes in a fun ball with an animal on it which can be used to stamp into the dough and show the face. Khloe enjoyed doing this because it was super easy for her hands.
I let her play for quite a while and it kept her attention well. I wasn’t too worried about a mess, although I did lay down some paper on the table to keep it tidy. The dough did stick to that a bit so I may not use paper next time. I have a large plastic sheet that would work better. So, just a heads up, I wouldn’t lay down paper for this activity.
Dough Dots come in a variety; from individual packs to multi-packs. They’re super affordable. You can purchase them here. Individual packs are just $1.99!!!
This toy is recommended for children ages 3-6 or for the kid at heart. I know that I love messing around with moldable doughs and clays. If you’d like to learn more about Dough Dots click here.
